Sky HD Boxes NOW With Dolby Digital Over HDMI....What?..

Sky HD Boxes Now With DOLBY DIGITAL Over HDMI

Well it's been rumoured since 2009, but now its finally arrived. Well on Models 68XX upwards including the DRX890 and DRX895.. And in my mind about time to.. Most of us Home Cinema users/owners have had to make do with the Optical out for our Dolby Digital Listening Pleasures, but now it's coming through crystal clear through the HDMI output. Big deal some of you may be saying, but to me/us who channels our sound through our Home Cinema Receivers then its a godsend. as we use our AVR's as switching boxes and we can now use it with our Sky box and have one less HDMI lead into our TV's and one less Optical lead in the back of our Receivers..
Fig 2. Set up your HDMI output in the Settings menu on your remote and in the Sound section

Not only that but you also have a option to put your Sky HD box in 3 different modes, Eco, Active and None. Which will make your box only use around 0.5 watts in Standby.. Great news for the polar bears then.
The software update will then hit the Pace and Samsung boxes 'later some time in the year'

So there you have it folks. Hope it helps those of you that have Sky HD and have been wanting Dolby Digital over HDMI since having the terrestrial giants installed in the Home.
