'Sometimes your whole life boils down to one insane move'
Fig 1. The Lenticular Sleeve is the Only Touch
Oh Dear, Oh Dear where do I start? I know with a punch line.
'What's Big and Blue and Three Years to late'?.....
Avatar 3D to the masses that's what, back in 2010 (yep it's that long ago) Avatar was the most anticipated film around and most movie and mostly Home Cinema enthusiasts couldn't wait to get there hands on a copy in it's native 3D to enjoy...
But surprise.... it was a exclusive to Panasonic and little did most of us know that we would have to wait well over 2 years (out in 2012) before we could pick it up from our high street shelves.. was it worth the wait? Well lets head back over to the blue planet Panadora and see.
Fig 2. Sully and Neytiri
Now how can I sum the movie plot up for those who haven't seen it..ok
Sully loses brother, Sully ends up in wheelchair and manages to get into the marine core of planet bashing. A special department has created the technology to make real-like blue creatures called Avatars so they can talk to the planet natives called the Navi's then persuade them to move on so the government can nick all this precious rock called Unobtainium (yes really). and Sully befriends the natives and decides to turn against the Marines and Government with a few others including Grace (Sigourney Weaver) and save the people and the planet from total disaster and oblivion.

In the last 3 years there has been quite the influx of 3D movies, with excellent encodes on Blu Ray and Avatar is no exception. And you know what it easily one of the best still. Stability, Clarity, Detailing and Colour saturation are right up there.
It doesn't matter what you think of James Cameron's plots and writing he certainly know how to make a good looking flick in 3D. There isn't a single shot in his Sci-Fi mega epic that doesn't draw you in to his alien world. Avatar has clearly been made with 3D in mind, all the way down to the holographic maps in the computer room (chapter 4).. I don't really know what else to say except if your looking for perfect especially in 3D, then you need to visit Pandora just one more time.
AUDIO*****
DTS MASTER AUDIO English 5.1, French Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 and
Portuguese Dolby Digital 5.1
Portuguese Dolby Digital 5.1
No matter what version you now own, if indeed like me you own all 3. (yes I know but it was out in the U.S before the UK on Blu Ray) Not only are your eyes in for a treat but your ears to. All the releases are reference quality audio mixes, and theres no change when it comes to the 3D incarnation. A DTS HD MASTER 5.1 track is ear blistering and all the while it does all the things you would expect from a Sci-Fi blockbuster (booming bass and surround effects to make a Navi look twice)
But it is the overall precision of the audio and the way it manages to balance its way from beginning to end. The Home Cinema audio experience doesn't get much better than this.
