'We're riding towards Absolution. You know how far west we are?'
Fig 1. Embossed Title and Lovely Colours Adorn the Front
To see Daniel Craig in between roles is nice, but it has to be the right role and the right sidekick/partner alongside him. Thankfully that comes in the guise of our Star Wars hero Harrison Ford.( a credit to Jon Favreau for getting them together) Long story short as not to ruin the plot, Mr Craig an unarmed cowboy has amnesia and wakes up one day not knowing what went on but more importantly what the hell is on his wrist. and what can it do. After killing a couple of bandits he wanders into town and that's where things get interesting. He beats up the local town drunk not knowing that the drunks father is a hardened cattleman/rancher. (Ford) he insists that his son is released from the local sheriff and as its about to happen through the darkness of the night alien ships appear and take his son. Craig Keeps having this flashback dream about gold and a girl(Olivia Wilde) So Craig and Wilde along with Ford put there differences aside and hunt down the alien craft and is occupants. But what is that thing on Craig's wrist.. Pick it up to find out
Fig 2. The Rear of the Steelbook has Great Detail
The Steelbook itself is a thing of beauty, colours are subdued but not so that it detracts from the main detail. With an Embossed Title on the front and just the lone figure of Daniel Craig.. Lovely.
Fig 3. The Inside Artwork is ok, Nothing Special But at Least it has Some
Fig 4. The Embossed Main Title in Silver

As a movie, it might be a little lacking in the movie front but when it comes to picture quality it really is right up there with Universal's best. The AVC encode is pure eye candy, faces are detailed, Stubble is as sharp as a knife and as refined as much as the spaceship itself. Jon Favreau's (remember him from the Ironman Movies?) CGI aliens showcase every last bit of metal. And flashing lights look true and bright. The Arizona dessert looks plush with trees and bushes looking as natural as possible. So I have got to give it a 4 and a half out of 5. But what does that thing on his bloody wrist do?.

Up until now I seem to have gone on and on about 7.1 but this is a disc that can live with the 7.1 gang. the 5.1 HD Audio soundtrack is beautifully done. It delivers some pretty impressive audio and the final battle between Cowboys and Aliens is a delight, It's an assault on your eardrums from as early as the night time alien abduction, as ships whizz past your head and around your room. It's not just the steering that's a treat, but also the control and power of the voices and gunshots. It is what you want from a movie. fully approved at a 5 out of 5
