So starts the madness where he decides to jump into another game and has a plan to do one thing.. Win a Gold Medal. As the film goes on he eventually Wrecks all around him. With a little twist that I won't divulge.

It's a movie about a country divided by war and conflict. Change is need and Abraham Lincoln pursues a course of action wanting to end the war and unite the country and abolish slavery. This is one I'm really looking forward to.. If I get a chance to review it without giving away to much then I will. It might not be for all but for me its a must watch.
Fig 3. Based on a True Story 'The Impossible'

The Aspect ratio is also 2.39:1 in full glorious 1080p with only one Audio track DTS MASTER AUDIO HD 5.1

Basically a family are on holiday in Thailand when the 2004 Tsunami hits and then split apart from each other. Father with 2 of the younger children and the oldest son with his mother. What happens next is a Harrowing story of Love, Care and utter devastation that could happen to any family, along with a multitude of other emotions. One I'm Going to watch next week..

The hunt for Osama Bin Laden. A much talked about subject and a very controversial subject told through the eyes of the military and intelligence agency's. What made them look where they did?, how did they gather the intel and finally get there man?. I for one have also heard nothing but great things about this film. So It's just another one I'm looking forward to viewing.

AND FINALLY ANOTHER 'POP' FIGURE
Fig 5. 'The Walking Dead' Bicycle Girl from Season 1

Week Starting 24th June 2013

Well another week and more 'New' Blu Rays to add to the Collection.
Fig 2. The Great Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 Zavvi Steelbook

Zavvi decided to release the 'Kill Bill' erm double bill,(Terrible Pun) and the some of the artwork was chosen by High Def Ninja's (Check them out with the link at the bottom) I think it was the inside and the rear but please have a look at the site to confirm. Anyway back to the steelbook. I have to admit I only got this this morning and have not opened it yet, but some of my youtube friends have and once again it's a nice looker. I already have the Amaray's but couldn't help myself on a 'Double Dip'. It's a matte finish with Uma's sword on the back sort of shimmering if you catch it in the right light.
It's a 2 Disc obviously. Still available so be quick.
Fig 2. 'Sinister'. Well I certainly looks it. Gulp!!!!!

Next up a movie I have been after for a while now and I wanted the slipcover as well so that's why I held off. Now I'm going to watch this at the weekend, as I love horror, and I mean Love Horror.
From what I've heard its a little disturbing but that's the kind of film I like something that makes you think and plays on your mind for days.. brilliant
Once I've watched I will do a FULL review.
I paid £9.00 off of Ebay inc postage so I think a bargain.. Oh and it's sealed.

Week Starting 17th June 2013

Well another week and more 'New' Blu Rays to add to the Collection.
Fig 1. The Dark Knight Collection.. 'Batman Begins', 'The Dark Knight' and ' The Dark Knight Rises'

I am so glad that I picked these up, Germany and the States have different cover art versions, but I really like these they have a shiny metallic sort of matte look. It's hard to describe. There is no difference on the transfers from the original releases, but still nice to add to the ever growing collection.
Still available from Amazon.co.uk and Zavvi also try Sainsbury's. I paid £12.80 with a discount from Amazon. So shop around

Crank Extended Cut Blu Ray Steelbook Germany

How'd you like that one, tough guy? How fricking awesome was that, huh

Fig 1. Maybe a Little Dull for Some, but I Kind of Like the Matte Finish

Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) Plays a Hitman who has taken a little bit of a wrong turn in his life and screwed one of his Hit givers over and decided not to do 'One Last job'. Now infected with a Deadly cocktail, he must find a cure and save himself as well as hunt down the ruthless gangsters who gave him it and kill them all, at any cost to himself and the rest of New York. A thrill ride from the very first minute you slip the disc in to the time you eject it.. It's a Popcorn, Fast Paced lunatic Movie that keeps your Adrenaline Pumping from Beginning to end.. This is a Mans film and I Love it.

Fig 2. I'm Afraid it's ALL in German, so I can't make head nor tale of what the movies about. But take my word for it.. You Won't Be Disappointed.

VIDEO*****
Presented at 1.85:1 in brilliant 1080p
Ah Full screen action at it's best and i'm not just talking about the Movie, Right from the very start Detail looks amazing, the stubble on Statham's face is exceptional as are the washed out colours. But don't be put off by this as its highly intentional. We have come to expect so, so much from Blu Ray and this is right up there, and I think compared to the DVD you can tell the difference in a Side by Side comparison. Blacks are deep and that's just the way I like them and you lose no shadow detail either, so that's a great thumbs up. You would have thought it was filmed yesterday.
I can't go any less than 5 out of 5 on this Transfer here.. Pick It up and you will see for yourselves.

AUDIO*****
DTS MASTER HD  5.1 English and DTS MASTER HD 5.1 German
When it comes to Lionsgates audio release this is right up there with the very, very best of them. Why because it matches the PQ all the way, with fast paced action SHOULD come a fast paced soundtrack and it certainly does. Bass is Booming, Music Blasts out of Every speaker and corner of the room when it kicks in and that is in all forms of Genre from Rock to Thrash and Heavy Metal they all get a work out here. Dialogue is not a problem here either, it's right up there and never gets drowned out. For my pleasure the surround speakers are used nearly ALL the way through this movie and that's thanks to the soundtrack. So once again a rare 5 from 5 from me, but I'm a little biased as it is one of my fav action flicks.

Fig 3. Inside the Artwork works well with the Steel, Giving it a well Steel Look.. Nice

Not that bad but could have done a little better, maybe on set a little more or even making the 7 minute documentary a hour?. 3 from 5 comes to mind. But hey that's only my opinion.

Xbox Does A U-Turn On 'Always Connected To Internet' and 'Game Trading'

Microsoft does a Massive Xbox One U-Turn.. Are Furious Angry Gamers To Thank.?
Fig 1. The Console

Connected Or Kinected Or 'Always Connected?'... Well Not Anymore.. According to many, many sources to mention and as I don't get paid by any of them I won't mention them..
But Microsoft have gone and done what our government here in the UK are always doing and made a massive U-Turn on the Following things.
At first launch they told us that the console would have to connect to the internet at least once a day or every 24 hours or it would block your games and that they would NO longer support game sharing with friends and that you would only be able to play your game on your console and not be able to take it with you to your mates anymore as it wouldn't work as it was registered to YOUR own console at home.
WELL now they have decided that all they told us was rubbish and that YOU can now share and not need to connect to the internet, just register with Xbox Live..
What I want to know is, was this THERE decision or was it pressure from Sony and there PS4 or more importantly US the Gamers?
So you can now play offline again.. so I guess i'll be switching back to Microsoft again.. Now that makes me happy, I sold my PS3 as I Always used my Xbox so I for one am very happy.
And isn't it funny that about a week or so after one of there Chief Exec's said 'We have a console for Offline gamers it's called the Xbox 360' and Sony saying that they will have NO restrictions on internet connection and game sharing, that now a few months before launch the company has made a so called U-Turn and gone back on ALL they said.. Amazing
Below is there Official Statement from Don Mattrick

"Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One.

"You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world.
"So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360."

  • "An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games - after a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24-hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
  • "Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today - there will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360."
Trade-off
The rules apply to games bought as physical discs only, and do not affect games downloaded via the online Xbox store. Which is what we have anyway on OUR Xbox 360's

So it looks and sounds like they have listened to US and YOU

Have they just pulled back there LOYAL customer's and Hardcore gamers?
Well I will see nearer the time, but for me I'm Happy again, the sun is shining in Gamer and Home Cinema Land once again.
It's just the price now...

What do you think about Microsoft making this announcement? Will you Still Buy There Console or are you now PS4 all the way?

Pioneer BDP-150 Blu Ray Player

Perfect Pioneer Does A Budget Player For All
With so many Blu ray players around the £250 to £300 range, I thought it was time to have browse and a look at what some other brands are offering below that price bracket, and I came across the Pioneer BDP-150. But can it offer the same features and PQ as well as Audio that more expensive Brands give you for over £100 more?
Fig 1. Clean, Tidy and Simplistic. Something We Take For Granted These Days

Pioneer's BDP-150 was released earlier this year and I picked one up for the bedroom as sometimes its nice to just take some 'Me' time and catch up on an old movie or something I haven't seen for a long time or if the family are watching a movie or programme I am not to fussed about. So I set about getting a cheap-ish player but still wanted to retain great Picture Quality and Audio.
Now most of the time I try and get a demo in-store or catch some other reviews around Video channels. But this time it was a blind buy, apart from looking at the Pioneer website and this is what I found.

As far as design goes I kind of like it with it's minimal buttons and clean finish. It's not the most feature packed player out there but for around £125.00 where could you spend less and get more?.
It has online features like, Picasa, Youtube and Netflix, but apart from that, that's all you seem to get online. You do get a front mounted USB port to send pictures and music files to your Receiver or TV, files that are supported are FLAC, M4A and MP3 files.
Along with a Quick Start feature to get your films spinning quicker than if it was a cold start, which is good to see. I don't play many CD's through my TV in the bedroom, but I can say it spins them nicely and sound is crisp and clear. One thing I can confirm as own only one disc is that Super Audio CD's are NOT catered for I'm afraid.

But let's talk about what your here for and that's BD play back and I can happily say that it does a very good job at doing it. I popped in my normal benchmark Blu Ray the superb Spears and Munsil HD Test Disc and it only managed to struggle on some and I mean some pans across large well defined patterns like the Contrast Set-Up part of the Disc. (It's a Great Disc and I urge anyone setting up a TV or Projector to use these discs as it WILL give you the best settings for your display).

Anyway back to Movie playback. I stuck in 'The Amazing Spider-man' and apart from a few judders in the sewer scene's I couldn't find a fault at this price. Detail on the Web slinger's Suit looks great as does the vibrant Reds and Blues, even for a dark film colours stand up very well.
Fig 2. Swing Round To The Rear

Around the back you see there has been a few money saving moves made with the loss of Analogue 5.1/7.1 outputs, but you do get a HDMI 1.3 port, Coaxial, Ethernet (No Wireless Here, but Pioneer will sell you the W-Fi dongle for an extra £50 model number AS WL300) and a  another USB port along with a Stereo L/R to have Pure Audio from the for mentioned CD playback
This is a Region B player, so there is no Multi Region Playback on offer here.
It decodes DTS HD MASTER AUDIO as well as DOLBY TRUE HD.. so that's good news as I'm looking for a little 5.1 set-up for the bedroom soon and would like to hear it in all It's Glory.
I did plug it in in my main system downstairs and can confirm it does sound a little bright, but that was soon fixed with a mess around on the AVR's EQ settings.

So Overall if you just want a Blu Ray player that has quality to It's name and don't want to spend a fortune than I can highly recommend this player. If you want for functions but want to pay just a little more then there are models by Panasonic and Sony out there, but for me It's great in a budget set-up or even like I have in a second room.

Prices start from as little as £120.00 pick it up, It's a nice buy.
Better still look and find your local dealer they need you as much as you need them. In my area there is Richersounds (0333 900 0054) and it is a good place if you don't know your local dealer mine however is my very friendly staffed Technosound.(01908 604949)

iOS 7 My View, Opinons, Screenshots and Features

I Know It's Not Home Cinema But I Do Use It In My Cinema System. So Let's Have A Quick Look

Apple unveiled its iOS 7 upgrade on Monday the 10th of June 2013, at its annual WWDC Conference in one of the biggest changes to the platform since its launch of the original iPhone.
So lets have a look and see if the improvements are worth it, innovative and more importantly function in every day life.
Some of the most notable changes in the pictures below give you a taste of what to expect when the update goes live in the autumn.
I installed the Beta and had the whole weekend to play around and see if its not only for me but for the rest of the Apple loyalists out there. Read on and see what you WILL be getting.
Fig 1. The 'New' Home Screen.. Innovative or Child Like?.. You Decide

So Friday night came and I thought ok take the plunge and install iOS 7 Beta 1. I waited and waited and then on it turned, first thing is there is no 'slide to unlock' slider anymore, you just do as it says slide to unlock, then there is the 'New' Home screen, icons are more pastel like in there colours and as everyone has said and mentioned 'Flat' looking. You now get a screen that somehow seems brighter and more colourful, its a massive change to those who are familiar to the 5 or 6 year old iOS icons. Gone have the rather business looking icons such as 'Notes', 'Email', 'Safari' and so on and in comes more of a simpler design. Yes Android have had these sort of icons since day one and ALL the so called Fanboy's are saying 'We've had this and this for years'. but where did people want Apple go?.
With this fresher look on design there are only so many things you can change and make different without so called copying someone. But I wont make this a war between Apple and Android its about what 'New' with iOS.
Fig 2. The first three Shots

We have a 'New' Control Centre where you can get access to your most used things like on/off for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Brightness, Do Not Disturb, Airplane Mode, Airplay, Screen Rotation Lock and new things like Torch and Airdrop.
Airdrop is where you can share you images or web pages or anything else for that matter with people or friends near by without having to go around tapping your phone with other people to 'Give it to them', if they are in you contacts or not you can share it with the 'Everyone' Button.. I like the idea, if your in a club and you turn it on you'll be able to send a pic of that cool looking cocktail or new 'Stunner' on the dance floor with your friends and enemy's or in a shop and see a 'New' pair of sneakers and want your mate to check them out and where you got them just press the screen and off it goes to there mobile device.
Notification Centre now shows you in different stages your Calender, Weather and what ever else you have planned for that day, but you now have a 'Today', 'All' or 'Missed' option, which is helpful in telling you what's going on at anytime of the day, along with calls missed, texts missed and so on. Its a nice overhaul but I think the best part of it is that you can access it from the 'Lock Screen' so you no longer need to 'Slide' to unlock your details.
The make over for the now Multitasking is a much need help, as you no longer need to keep going in and out of apps as the ones you open are still open, which makes copying and pasting very, very easy.
there's No more accidental app tapping because you tried to switch too fast, instead, you get beautiful miniature screen captures of your apps to swipe through. I think the best part of the 'New' multitasking is there is no more closing of apps, with the dreaded hold of the app and wait for the wiggle and red cross part, or even the question 'Did I just close my Safari search page' or for those who use it Facebook or Twitter app.
Fig 3. Mail, Weather and Messaging, simpler but still atheistic looking

Mail is quite bland now, gone is the black block like text and in comes a smaller thinner looking font. You get little circles if you tick the inboxes and edit them and they then slide out to the right, you can then move, mark or trash those items. It just makes things a little more simple. Not a major over haul but its been simplified if that makes sense.
Weather now has animation, so if its thunder coming your way then you get thunder and lighting bouncing off of your texts and the same with Cloudy, Snow or Sunshine all move on the screen making it not such a boring experience when checking the weather in your area or different area's if your a business man or planning to go on your hols. Much needed and nice to see that Apple seemed to have moved on and listened to the Feedback.
Messaging has had a keyboard change in style when you press and it seems the buttons are easier to press if you have sausage fingers like me. Apart form that I cant seem to find that much of a change but there is change. Blue bubbles indicate Internet-based iMessage and green ones indicate SMS messaging. Like I said not much just a little flatter and cleaner. You can still Pull down on a message list to reveal the search field. Swipe to the left to delete an conversation. Tap on the status bar to quickly jump to the top of the list. And scrolling through a long list of messages is very very smooth for a Beta.
Fig 4. Photo Sharing and AirDrop

For a long time we have wanted to share our photos with third party apps, but Apple are trying to make you or should I say get you to use there 'New' sharing built in app called AirDrop. Like I mentioned earlier its just a quick way of finding people you know and sharing your pics and video with them. You can choose a picture and then choose to either use AirDrop, iMessage, iCloud, Twitter or Facebook, its nice to have a lot more options now. Photo streams are ok but it isn't very share friendly. Photo streams are just one way really You could send images to your friends, but if they wanted to give pictures back to you, they had to create their own separate stream. So much needed me thinks.

Fig 5. Photos Overhaul

Photo's has probably had the biggest improvement of all as you can now browse or store you pics from Day, Month or Year. Just by using the geo tagging details on your photos and it then gives them titles like 'My Trip To Hong Kong' or 'My Sons Christmas Play' very neat and very effective. and as you see your photos shrink to the month or year you just use you finger and move over the images no matter how small it is and you get a little preview as if to say is this the one you wanted to show. So no more hunting through hundreds of photos just to show one. Apple calls them 'Moments' as well as 'Collections'.
Fig 6. The Overhaul Being Explained

Fig 7. The Camera Make-Over Thought Through and Easy

You now get a very easy and neat way of editing your pictures before you even take them, just click on the new looking Camera icon and you get 4 Choices. Video, Photo, Square or Panoramic. As well as that you can press a little set of 3 bubbles over lapping each other and you get 9 Picture mode options ranging from 'Mono' to 'Noir' and so on, so you will not need those third party apps anymore. Yes its been long over due but stop moaning about it as its here now, so enjoy and shoot away at your own delight and pleasure, Quick and easy.

Fig 8. Now With Added Animated Wallpapers

The Wallpapers are now animated with 2 sets of bubbles to choose from that move as you tilt your screen, its not known if Apple will make a addition to the iTunes store for you to buy more but if they didn't I would be very surprised. It's very weird to look at especially if you assign your own wallpaper as the icons seem to float over your own Photo's, again it's nice to see a change and something different for and from Apple.

Fig 9. Control Centre Up Close

Depending on your wallpaper your backdrop for your Control Centre or anything else coming to think of it will now match your wallpaper. It just seems a little more personal to you.

What Else Is There
The rest of the iOS 7 updates are things like icon changes for Camera, Notes, Game Centre, Contacts, Passbook, Music, Settings, Weather, Mail, Calendar, Stocks, Photos, News Stand, Phone and even a dedicated Facetime icon.. With rumours that you can even do a Voice Facetime now, it seems like a FREE way of making a call, well free but over your Wi-Fi or 4G.
Siri has been upgraded to but at the time as its only a Beta, I couldn't get assess to the Sweet sounding lady that tells me what's on at my local Cinema or How my team has done this week, but with Beta 2 due out on a rumoured 24th June let's see what gets fixed and reported back to Apple, She/he now uses Wikipedia to find things for you so she can listen and be told to search for that 'New' Blu Ray review your after. Maybe i'll use her a little more often now but who knows, you might even be able to search your messages or mail for you. One word of note though there is NO iRadio over here in the UK yet so I couldn't review that i'm afraid.

So that's it.. from what I've learnt throughout the 4 days of using it. Most apps work still apart from Ebay, (Damn You) but if I find anything more to report I will add it to the post..
So stay tuned and get excited it's a step forward for Apple and a step up for iOS.

I Just Thought As i'm A iPhone user I should share my experiences with iOS as it does work with my Home Cinema and that's why I have done the little review..

Let me know your thoughts, Have you got the Beta up and running?, what do you think of it?.

A Father's Day Treat From My Son.

It's Fathers Day Today and My Boy Got Me A 'New' Blu Ray to add to the Collection Plus A Little Collectable .
Check Them Out Below And
'Happy Fathers Day To All The Dad's Out There'.

Fig 1. The 'Pop' Vinyl Figure Of The RV Walker From The Brilliant 'The Walking Dead'

I have found that these are getting very collectable and there are hundreds to choose from. I will leave the link at the bottom for 'The Forbidden Planet' as that's where I found them, but they are on Amazon and Ebay, as well as loads of U.S sites and UK sites.. They aren't poseable, Stand about 4 inches tall i'd say and are a bit like the figures from Mezco. I think I have just found another addition to my Collection of Collectables..
So go on and give them a go... the detail and attention to it is amazing. They do Movies, Music and Most other Things.
Prices start at £8.99 to £10.99 depending on where you go..

Fig 2. 'Bullet To The Head' Amaray.. No Slip With This.

I have only heard mixed reviews about this. If you've watched 'The Last Stand' before this I've heard that's better, but then again if you've watched this first then maybe your view is different. I will do a FULL review as soon as I've watched it. But what I do know is that it has a DTS MASTER AUDIO 5.1 and to my liking for the Aspect Ratio as it's 1.85:1 so full screen action on tap.
So Thank You Son For A Very Special Day

Forbidden Planet UK 'Pop' Vinyl Figures

Well that's it guys a 'NEW' regular post I hope..
All are Beautiful, I've seen the 'Argo' one on-line in Videos from my fellow Youtuber's and it is Very nice, With a Raised Border and Embossed Tilte, in a Glossy like Red. 'Final Destination' is a sort of Matte Finish with a silvery Shimmer to the Skull and 5 as I said it great condition and finally 'A Good Day To Die Hard' which is a high matte finish, not the best artwork but at least HMV are learning from there 'High Price' mistakes and only charged £14.99 as I mentioned..

Heat Blu Ray Steelbook From The Warner Collection

'I do what I do best, I take scores. You do what you do best, try to stop guys like me'

Fig 1. The Front has a Wonderful Silvery Shimmer to it Along with a Matte Finish..

For starters this was one of those films with such high expectations regarding De Niro and Pacino's first on screen appearance together.. And you know what despite the lack of time they ARE seen together the film manages to jet off in one direction and never stands still. Even the so called 'Slower' scenes are fast paced as in Pacino and his wife arguing, along with the off action chemistry between Val Kilmer and his lover. Obviously there is the ultimate 'Coming together' of the two iconic stars and the intensity does seem to grab you, like you've been waiting for this moment for years.. This is truly a Great (and I don't use that word to often) and I mean Great Crime Story. A bunch of cons and ex-cons come together for ONE more last heist and to ultimately live there dreams out. Can it all go as planned?. Well buy it and see it for yourself, as I am not going to give anything away in this review. Now grab your hockey mask and let the games begin..

Fig 2. The Rear has a Clip of one of the Heists, a Nice touch to see a Almost all White Steel.

VIDEO****
Presented at 2.40:1 in brilliant 1080p
Warner have seemed to have done a very good job on not just this but ALL the Warner collection Re-Release's. If your expectations are super high, then forget it. Those people looking for a crisp clean HD Transfer will feel a little disappointed, but don't be. If you want film grain it's there but not misused and I, for one, am very happy with how it turned out and looks. Colours and skintones are as life like as you would expect from a Mann film.  Detail is just as high, especially when comparing the Blu Ray transfer to the DVD.(If you still own it, have a look for yourself) There is some minor messing around with the contrast but I think that's to do with continuity of the film stock not being even. It's not going to be Demo room material and it's not for the people who want 'Clash Of The Titans' CGI clarity. But there is enough of an improvement to warrant a so called 'Double Dip' or 'First time' buy. Blacks are suitably deep and thank god there is no messing around with edges or over use of DNR. So on the whole as Mann didn't mess around to much I would advise you to pick this up and add it to ANY collection..  A 4 out of 5 for me, pure HD pleasure.

AUDIO****
DOLBY TRUE HD English 5.1, French, Dolby Digital 5.1, German, Dolby Digital 5.1
Spanish, Dolby Digital 5.1. And Portuguese, Dolby Digital 2.0
Oh Dolby, Dolby Dolby, sometimes you really do deliver some outstanding soundtracks and this is one of them. I used to think the DVD sounded good in old school Dolby Digital. But this re-mastered track blows the socks and what ever else your wearing off. Dialogue is crisp and nicely positioned to the Centre channel. And it seems that during the famous 'Fight Scene' the voices are a little lost amongst all the gunfire, but I believe that was intentional believe it or not, as in the middle of the for-mentioned scene, would you hear anything anyway?. or maybe a studio mixing fault who knows, don't get me wrong you can still hear what they are saying it just seems a little muffled. The shootout itself is jaw-dropping, and other key scenes are just as good. As is the rear speaker activity, it is aggressive and involving, and very, very immersive. Just up my street. (no pun intended)
Play it loud and play it proud.. You will find yourself cranking the volume up and up.. its a natural reaction.. So overall a 4 and a half out of 5 for me.. now run for cover as the bullets fly..

Its not a bad collection or collaboration of extra's.. Its the same as the barebones edition we had a few years back.. So that's the only problem with it.. i'm sure there is more to this and if you release a 'Premium' edition then make it so.. Boo Hoo, 3 out of 5 so a little disappointed yes WE should be.

The 'NEW' Logitech Harmony Ultimate

Is There One Remote to Rule Them All?..... Let's See Shall We

Ever since I got my Phillips Pronto Universal Remote Control some years back now, the company doesn't want to make them anymore because of 'Cost' reasons. So a lot of people turned to 'One For All' remotes and then along came the name we, the Home Cinema public knew only from PC Keyboards and Mice, 'Harmony'. They started to make remotes that where basic in design and function and then went on from strength to strength.. I know that some people hate them and some love them, as most of the 'High End' ones need a PC or MAC to set-up properly and can and could be time consuming.. So a few years on from the Harmony 1000 and 1100, has anything changed?
Fig 1. The Harmony Ultimate in ALL its Glory. Plain But sSimple

The remote looks and feels very nice to touch and feels very comfortable in hand buttons are response, which is what you should and would expect. I could only play with it for a short time but to me it all feels well built and well thought through. The included Harmony Hub turns RF signals from the remote control into Infa Red commands your home theater devices can understand. Access internet services like Netflix on your PS3 or Xbox 360. But now with the Addition of Bluetooth.. so the PS3 is now covered...Great.
Fig 2. The RF Hub small and looking like a shiny pebble

The Ultimate now gives you all the control you deserve. Control Your Home Cinema devices that are behind cabinets and through walls. Control IR devices as well as Bluetooth game consoles. Even use your mobile phone as a personal universal remote control. You can get a App for iOS and Android and its free as well, so there's another Bonus. You can even control the Phillips lighting system called 'Hue' with it so you'll never have to get up to dim the lights again.. It Has Double the number of buttons by programming them for both short and long presses. And you can now See in dark rooms thanks to the tilt sensors that automatically light up the touch screen. And gentle vibrations let you know when a screen button is pressed, so there’s no need to take your eyes off of the Movie your watching.
It even comes with a docking station to charge your little device when your not using it.. so all is thought of then?.
Fig 3. The Front View and not to Cluttered

It can control up to 15 devices if you own that many and can offer over 225,000 devices in its data base. So they say and there isn't anything I haven't found it wont control, and even if you do you can teach it the commands if you still have the original remote. You STILL haver to use the online database if you want to fully take advantage of all its features but hey everyone's got a PC right?. Connect the Harmony Ultimate to your Mac or PC and visit myharmony.com. Harmony’s guided setup will walk you through the process step by step.
Price well its a bit of a big price for such a little product, but as they have discontinued the 1000 and 1100 range and they felt like £299,00 products this comes in at £229,00. A bargain?, well that is up to you and how many remotes you have down the sofa or sitting on your already cluttered coffee table.

So that's it guys a 'New' remote for a 'New' generation. What with Smartphone Apps as well it seems they have decided to join the community.

Have a look HERE if your at all interested.

Going to Upgrade?.. Need an Upgrade?..
Or just Starting to get a little annoyed at ALL the remotes laying about?.
